Peridontal disease – paradentosis. What does it mean? How can it be treated? Paradentosis can be treated conservatively or surgicaly. Paradentosis is one of the most frequent diseases of gums. It is a degenerative process affecting the ligament tissue which connects teeth with a jaw bone. The cause of this disease is an inadequate oral hygiene and formation of tartar. The main signs are chronic inflammation of gums surrounding the teeth and formation of so-called trunks, accompanied by a bad breath. In a later stage the deep structures including tooth-bed are affected and eventually destroyed. Due to paradentosis the patient may lose all his teeth even the healthy ones. When you gums bleed while you clean your teeth it is necessary you see your dentist as soon as possible as he may detect the paradentosis in its early stage. Untreated paradentosis is accompanied with pain and evetually loosening your teeth which may result in a complete loss of your teeth. The only effective method preventing paradentosis is performing an adequate oral hygiene. This can stop the progress of the disease or at least slow it down. In case a tartar appears in the area of the necks of your teeth it is necessary to see your dentist without delay to have the tartar professionally removed. TartarOccurence of paradentosis is also connected with formation of a tartar, a hard layer covering the surface of your teeth in case of an inadequate dental hygiene. If not removed early the tartar may enter under the gums. These become eventually loose enabling development of an infection affecting the teeth and causing a loss of calcium. If the gums are not treated the infection spreads in the ligament tissue that connects the teeth with a jaw bone. The teeth become loose and in most cases the complete loss of the teeth is then inevitable. Removal of a tartar and a deep cleaning is performed by dental hygienist every 6 months as a part of preventive regular check-ups.
