CBCT – 3D precise diagnostics

CBCT – 3D precise diagnostics

Unlike a classic CT scan, the CBCT is in a multiple-times lower radiation dosage and in a 3D image as opposed to the classic two-dimensional one. Thanks to the 3D image (digital), your dentist can determine the most effective treatment for you, and thanks to this technology a dentist can see things that are not visible on a simple X-ray image (scan).

The difference between a classic CT scan and this one is in its multiple lower dosage of radiation and in its 3D image, as opposed to the classic two-dimensional image. Thanks to the 3D image (digital) your dentist can determine the most effective treatment for you. Because of this technology, a dentist sees things not visible on a simple X-ray image. The abbreaviation CBCT or in full name “cone beam computed tomography” is a displayed X-ray check capturing a chosen tissue volume in all levels – thus 3D – and enables to get a dimensional overview and thus a more perfect evaluation of an examined object. An indisputable advantage of CBCT is several times lower radiation dosages (according to producers almost 50x lower), more detailed differentiaton of images, and a faster examination.

What advantages does a 3D examination have?

A CBCT device enables you to get three-dimensional images (models) of the complete jaw as well as small-targeted areas. All of that in perfect resolution with minimal stress. The device can, of course, also create classic panoramic images. It can also help in these areas:

  • Implantology
  • Wisdom teeth extraction
  • Endodontics
  • Periodontics
